Extraction

What is Extraction?

Extraction is a separation process consisting of the separation of a substance from another material. It is similar to drying but you normally capture the substance being extracted by running the hot vapor through a condenser. During drying the extracted vapor is often discarded. Sometimes a higher value solvent then water is used for extraction and can be recaptured and reused.

Why are Microwaves used for Extraction?Industrial Microwave Extraction- Cellencor

A burgeoning field for microwave energy is in extraction applications. Microwave extraction has many appealing advantages. One of these advantages is that microwave extraction can often be performed at lower temperatures that do not potentially damage the extracted material. Cellencor has worked with a number of customers to develop microwave assisted extraction applications. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Vacuum distillation
  • Vapor extraction
  • Atmospheric solvent free extraction
